The O2 Concert Arena Dublin
The O2 Concert Arena is located near the docklands in Dublin City Centre. It is a 14,000 seat amphitheatre. It was built on the site of the old point theatre, which was a smaller music venue, however the O2 has retained some of the outer façade. The point operated from 1988-2007 and the O2 was opened in 2008 so this concert venue has a huge amount of history and has been home to some of the major performers in the past 30 years.
An interesting fact is that U2 were the first people to perform here and Bono & Edge performed Van Diemen’s Land & Desire to a private audience. The O2 Dublin has had many of the most recent superstars perform here from Beyoncé to Lady Gaga and even the stars of Glee performed here in 2011.
Getting To The O2Parking: Parking is very limited around the O2 and it is advised that patrons use public transport however there is a few free car parking spaces outside the O2 just along the river. However you would want to get there early to secure your spot. Remember check the parking times that are free.
Dublin Bus: The 151 bus provides a scheduled service that leaves from the city centre and drops you at the venue.
Luas: The Red Line Luas is the most efficient way of getting to the O2 as it drops you off right in the middle of the point village which is where the O2 is located. Remember that the luas get full very quick so it is advised that you get down to the O2 early.
