The Gate Theatre
Where traditional theatre is blended with innovative style
Founded in 1928, the Gate Theatre is a small but ornate theatre on Dublin’s northside, at the top of Parnell Street.
The main performance area is reminiscent of a Georgian living room- with high ceilings, intricate friezes and ceiling designs and just one tiered level of seating.
Famed for its performances of traditional theatre such as Wuthering Heights, A Streetcar Named Desire and Waiting for Godot, the Gate Theatre has recently seen a change of directorship and now blends these traditional shows with some truly innovative theatre, for example a fully immersive and interactive production of the Great Gatsby.
