Museum of Literature
A museum of literature for the world’s greatest story tellers
The Museum of Literature Ireland opened its doors in 2019, a much needed focal point for Ireland’s vibrant and historical literary scene. A collaboration between the National Library of Ireland and UCD, the museum is located on Stephens Green in one of UCD’s most significant historic properties, Newman House. This is just a 6-minute walk from the Drury Court Hotel. The building itself provides a stunning backdrop to the items exhibited, with ornate cornices and the high-ceilings synonymous with Dublin’s Georgian buildings.
The museum features a wide selection of exhibitions examining Ireland’s rich literary heritage, from James Joyce to celebrated journalist Nuala O’Faolain. One of their permanent exhibits and something not to be missed is ‘Copy No. 1’ of Ulysses, courtesy of the National Library of Ireland.
